Paint streaks on walls can be unsightly and can detract from the overall appearance of a room. Here are some tips for fixing or preventing paint streaks on your walls:
  1. Proper preparation: Before painting, make sure the surface is clean, dry, and free of any dust, dirt, or debris. Fill any cracks or holes with spackle or caulk and sand the surface smooth.
  2. Use high-quality paint: Using a high-quality paint will help ensure a smooth, even finish. Look for paint with a high percentage of solids, which will provide better coverage and durability.
  3. Use the right tools: Use a high-quality brush or roller that is appropriate for the type of paint you are using. A good quality brush or roller will help you achieve a smoother finish and reduce the likelihood of streaks.
  4. Apply multiple coats: Instead of trying to apply one thick coat of paint, apply multiple thin coats. This will help ensure even coverage and reduce the likelihood of streaks.
  5. Avoid overworking the paint: When applying the paint, avoid going over the same area too many times. This can cause streaks and make the finish look uneven.
  6. Maintain a wet edge: When painting large surfaces, it's important to maintain a wet edge to avoid streaks. This means painting in sections and working quickly to blend each section into the next before it dries.
  7. Correct streaks as you go: If you notice streaks or uneven areas while you are painting, correct them immediately. Use a damp cloth or roller to smooth out the streaks, and then repaint the area as needed.
By following these tips, you can help prevent paint streaks and achieve a smooth, even finish on your walls. If you do notice streaks or other imperfections after the paint has dried, you can try lightly sanding the surface and applying another coat of paint.  You can always get a professional painter to come in an do the work for you, if you are unsure of what it takes.
